Why use a Dutch oven?
Why use a Dutch oven?
Learning how to bake bread with enough steam in a domestic oven is the first challenge for a home baker when embarking on their bread journey. A Dutch oven, which is a pot made entirely of cast iron allows for enough heat & steam to replicate a commercial bread oven environment & so is the preferred method when making bread at home.
Our bread specific Dutch ovens are perfect for baking bread & gives perfect results every time.
How it works
During the initial stages of baking, steam is released inside the chamber of a Dutch oven (sealed by a lid), this keeps the dough moist allowing the bread to develop a crispy, shiny crust and attain maximal volume.

This is a terrific kit to get started. Very quality tools and I’m really happy with this.
Bought this for a birthday present and it was beyond expectations! Great quality!
Love the bread knife. That was definitely worth adding onto the order too!
Customer service was brilliant and responsive
Starter kit arrived within the first week
Loved the sustainable wrapping and instructions
However as a newbie i found it very frustrating to have to refer to my tablet for each instruction
I did try to print the main page but it cane back blank. While my starter is working brilliantly, I haven’t been able to get a loaf of bread but i will get there
I found the instructions helpful 😊 was easy enough.
I got the basic sourdough set because I was having trouble getting my starter to rise which I did from scratch. Still struggling to get my starter to double every 8 hours even with the starter from here. But determined to make it work.
Hi Steph, that's no good it should be performing better than that. We'll post a new starter to you today. Please head over to our support group and post a photo of your starter & our team can do some trouble shooting.
