NB: Please check the internal measurements of your Dutch oven to ensure your finished dough will fit inside. 

Why use a Dutch oven?

Learning how to bake bread with enough steam in a domestic oven is the first challenge for a home baker when embarking on their bread journey. A Dutch oven, which is a pot made entirely of cast iron allows for enough heat & steam to replicate a commercial bread oven environment & so is the preferred method when making bread at home.

Our bread specific Dutch ovens are perfect for baking bread & gives perfect results every time. 

How it works

During the initial stages of baking, steam is released inside the chamber of a Dutch oven (sealed by a lid), this keeps the dough moist allowing the bread to develop a crispy, shiny crust and attain maximal volume.

So impressed!

I started the process of rehydrating the flakes last week & baked my first sourdough loaf on the weekend. Wow! The whole process was easy, enjoyable & the bread turned out wonderful. The instructions & videos on the website were so helpful.

Works every time

Purchased the starter kit, took several days to get it fermenting as it’s been raining lots, found the garage to be really warm, wrapped starter in a blanket. First loaf wasn’t expecting much as GF bread is usually pretty ordinary, but this bread is beautiful. First loaf eaten pretty quickly, so have 2 baguette and a loaf proving.

Thanks for the box, the contents look great. I have been reading the how to section and I think on the weekend i might et the starter firing. I don't quite understand the amount of materials for feeding the sourdough starter, so I am goin to have to do some research on that. I make normal bread so the rest of it i think will be ok. Thankyou!

Great introduction to sourdough for beginners

Very detailed and easy to understand instructions. The videos that go along are very helpful too. A steep learning curve but lots of instruction and support!
