Terms of service

Welcome to Sourdough Mate

These Terms of Service explain the terms that apply when you use our website or purchase products from us.

By using our website or placing an order with Sourdough Mate, you agree to these terms.

We’ve tried to keep them as straightforward as possible. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us — we're always happy to help.

1. About Sourdough Mate

Sourdough Mate is an Australian family business based in Mount Martha, Victoria.

ABN: 23 098 013 999

We sell sourdough kits, baking tools, flour, starter products, baking equipment and related products through our online store.

2. Products & product information

We do our best to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications, measurements and other information on our website are accurate and up to date.

However, colours and appearance can vary slightly between screens and actual products, and manufacturers may occasionally change product specifications or packaging.

Where a product specification changes, we'll endeavour to update the relevant information on our website.

If you have any questions about a product before purchasing, please contact us. We're happy to help you choose the right product for your needs.

Sourdough and baking results

Sourdough is a natural fermentation process and results can vary depending on factors such as flour, temperature, hydration, starter activity, fermentation time and individual baking methods.

Our recipes, guides and advice are provided as general information and guidance. They are not a guarantee of a particular baking result.

If you're having trouble with your sourdough, please contact us. We're always happy to troubleshoot it with you.

3. Prices & availability

All prices displayed on our website are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable.

We do our best to keep pricing and product availability accurate. Occasionally, an error may occur due to a technical issue, supplier price change or other circumstance.

If we discover a significant pricing or product information error after you have placed an order, we'll contact you before processing the order further and give you the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel the order for a refund.

Products are subject to availability.

We reserve the right to limit quantities purchased where reasonably necessary, including where an order appears to be for resale or where stock availability is limited.

4. Placing an order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your cart.

Once your payment has been successfully processed, you'll receive an order confirmation email.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order in limited circumstances, including where:

  • A product has become unavailable

  • There has been an obvious pricing or product description error

  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity

  • We are unable to fulfil the order for reasons outside our reasonable control

If we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled order.

5. Payment

We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.

Payment must be successfully received before an order can be dispatched.

You are responsible for providing accurate billing and delivery information when placing your order.

6. Shipping & delivery

Our shipping and delivery arrangements, including dispatch times, delivery estimates, international shipping and shipping restrictions, are explained in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.

Once your order has been dispatched, you'll receive tracking information where tracking is available.

Delivery times provided by Australia Post or other carriers are estimates and are not guaranteed.

If your order is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us and we'll do our best to help.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights where Australian Consumer Law provides you with a remedy.

7. Returns, refunds & faulty products

Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains our approach to change-of-mind returns, damaged products, incorrect products and refunds.

Nothing in our Returns & Refunds Policy or these Terms of Service excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

If a product has a problem, please contact us and we'll work with you to determine the appropriate solution.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy available under Australian Consumer Law.

8. Australian Consumer Law

We respect and comply with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

The ACL provides consumers with automatic consumer guarantees when they purchase goods and services.

These rights cannot be removed, restricted or excluded by these Terms of Service.

If there is any inconsistency between these terms and your rights under Australian Consumer Law, your rights under Australian Consumer Law will apply.

For more information about your consumer rights, you can visit the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Any expiry date or other conditions applying to a gift card will be clearly stated at the time of purchase.
