Save time & hassle of growing your own starter from scratch with our organic sourdough starter flakes which can be revived with flour & water at home.
Grown and maintained using only organic whole rye Australian flour from Wholegrain Milling Company.
Why we use whole rye flour?
Because it provides more nutrients for your starter & ferments more actively than white bread flours alone. Rye flour is also lower in gluten so makes mixing easier. If you don't have rye flour, we recommend doing a 50/50 white bread flour & whole-wheat flour mix to feed your starter.
If you would like to purchase a whole rye flour to feed & maintain your starter if you wish to use the same flour as the original starter.
Please do not use supermarket plain/cake flour to fed your starter as it does not contain enough food to feed the good bacteria that makes your starter strong.
Just mix the whole sachet of sourdough starter flakes with flour & water & it will be activated & ready to use within 24-42 hours.
Once activated your starter will stay alive for as long as you feed & look after it.

Yummiest bread!!!
Needed a couple of loaves to perfect my GF bread, very happy with the 2nd loaf and so was hubby (even though he is not GF)
In cold Melbourne my starter flakes took over a week to get going. I left it on my counter and fed it twice a day and finally success! I am happy with it and am using sourdough discard to make pancakes. Yum.
