The banneton works really nicely, dough proves and rises really well and seems to have more body and a nicer texture too.
I opted for the smooth finish to avoid the imprint and texture of the cane bannetons i have been using and am very pleased with the result !
A lovely loaf, and much less ''mucking around', it seemed to me.
i will increase the weight and volume of the dough mix to fully utilise the dimensions of the banneton and so far am very happy with it and the result of my first 'trial' loaves.
I expect to purchase another wood pulp banneton when i have become more familiar with using it.
I think the result is superior to cane bannetons and i am very pleased with it.

Spruce pulp banneton

These German-made wood pulp bannetons are far superior to the far more widely available Vietnamese and Chinese rattan bannetons, which are flimsy and held together by staples. I had to retire my first German wood pulp banneton after 10+ years of use because it was attacked by rats when I forgot about it airing outside and left it out all night.

After looking at the rattan bannetons at Kitchen Warehouse, which are about $10 cheaper than the all-up cost (ie, including shipping) of these Sourdough Mate wood pulp ones, I decided it was FAR better value to go for the latter. It came very well packaged, promptly delivered, and is the same as my previous now departed first banneton. These babies do a fantastic job, last many years and are really a no-brainer. Don't hesitate.

I’ve always wanted wood pulp Bannetons and the Bannetons I purchased are wonderful! I purchased 6 of them and then purchased a couple more for a friends birthday gift. My sourdough is so much easier to score! Quick postage also. Very happy customer.

Oh wow! This is so wonderful and has made a huge difference to my sourdough cooking. The dough easily comes out, it is a great consistency (not so wet) and the banneton is very easy to clean. I would recommend this with confidence to anyone. Thank you!
