Our Story

At Sourdough Mate, we bring the joy of sourdough baking into homes across Australia. Our premium sourdough kits are designed for bakers of all levels — from beginners to seasoned pros.

Dietary inclusive sourdough kits

We cater to a variety of dietary needs, offering gluten-free, Coeliac safe, FODMAP-friendly, Low GI, and plant-based sourdough kits. That way, everyone can enjoy the taste and health benefits of homemade sourdough.

We never use drop-shipping or third-party packing companies

Every order is carefully packed by us, the owners, and shipped directly from our Mount Martha, Mornington Peninsula warehouse. We never use third-party fulfilment or drop-shipping, so if any issues arise, you can contact us directly via our website chat for fast, personal support.

We’re dedicated to delivering old-fashioned, personalised service you can truly count on

Though we’re an online store, our customers always come first — and we’re genuinely grateful for each and every one of you. That’s why we do everything we can to keep you happy and coming back!

We love chatting with our customers one-on-one!

That’s why we offer real-time support via our website chat, where you can instantly message Anh or Andy Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm (AEST). Outside these hours, responses may take a little longer, but we’ll always get back to you as soon as we can.

Sustainability & responsibility

We are conscious of the many millions of tonnes of rubbish being added to landfill each year & so we are committed to helping reduce the number of packaging waste that our store produces.

Using up-cycled mailing boxes

We also (where we can) reuse any shipping boxes to give them a second/third life, ensuring that we minimise waste and extend the use of each box’s life cycle. So if you receive a box from us that doesn’t look like ours, it’s most likely a box that has been up-cycled but carefully packed on the inside by our family team – most likely by Anh, her husband and Dad (pictured below).

Use home compostable mailing bags

We are aware of the number of plastic bags Australians use every year (more 5 Billion in fact) so we have made sure our mailing bags do not add to this statistic. We have used kraft paper & minimise plastic where possible.

When we’re not reusing upcycled mailing boxes, we use 100% home-compostable mailing bags that can be composted both at home and commercially.
